I have 4-year-old Viewsonic VG150B LCD monitor which has developed a “cold” display issue. The monitor has wavy horizontal distortion during a cold boot or coming out of extended sleep mode with no video input. Once the monitor receives video input for about 5 to 10 minutes it progressively get better until the distortion goes away and the picture quality is normal. I have replaced the video monitor cord and the problem persists. I have also tested the my systems’ video card (Diamond Viper 330) with another LCD monitor and the replacement monitor worked fine, so I believe the issues is isolated to my Viewsonic VG150B LCD monitor.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Is this an indication that monitor is going out?

Thanx

No not me personally.
However, LCD displays and that technology in general have an effective lifetime measured in hours of use. I have read that its around 60000 hours. DOn't know how long you keep it on in a day, but there are 8760 hours in a year and you have had it for four years that 35040 hours. So assuming that you bought it new and left it on all the time for that period you should still have a lot of time (another 3yrs maybe) left.
There is always a chance that an electrical component besides the panel has gone bad. You know as well as I do that it usially costs about 100.00 just to have someone check it out not to mention the repair.

Maybe its time to consider a replacement.

Have you visited the viewsonic support site to look for simiar problems or to ask a technician? That may help as well. There are plenty of experts here that will hopfully chime in and help.

Good Luck.
