Vimtag Webcam Invisible on Work Network

Hello all,

I'm an EE intern trying to setup a webcam for remote viewing of an experiment for work, and I'm having issues setting this up over the work network. My IT guy doesn't seem to have a clue what to do or why it doesn't connect, and I suspect that this is a bit beyond my breadth of experience as far as IT is concerned.

I followed the setup directions and this thing worked fantastically over my home network but I suspect there is something different about how the work network encryption is setup or something.

Directions are as follows:

1) Setup An account with the webcam portal via MIPCM.com
2) Add the device
3) (While searching for device via portal) Hardwire plug into home network so it can be discovered and turn the power on.
4) Switch from wired network to wireless network while the camera is still plugged in.

Problem is that the device won't connect to the portal and remains undiscovered over work network.

IF anybody can suggest what I should do, what information I need to gather, what I need to ask the IT guy for, or whether or not I need access to my work's router software please let me know.

You will have to check with that webcam' manufacturer what ports it needs to be open so the cam can communicate with the portal. But judging from the "quality" if their web site, I would rather look around for well-known camera which can be controlled directly, rather than thru a "control center".

Your IT guy could help by checking the firewall' logs for rejected attempts for outside communication.
