Question Viotek gn27db wont accept 1440p 144hz over HDMI 2.0

I recently bought a Viotek 1440p 144 Hz monitor to pair with my Xbox one x and later a pc because I know the Xbox can do 1440p at 120 Hz (I know games don't play at 120hz), so I got everything hooked up properly with an HDMI 2.0 because I know HDMI 1.4 doesn't support 1440p at 144hz. but when I go to settings on the Xbox it only lets me do 1440p at 60hz or 1080p at 120hz, I made sure that I plugged the cable into the 2.0 port, not the 1.4. So then I guess I have 2 questions, 1- does my monitor not support 1440p 144hz through HDMI? only through display port, and 2- if I got a display port to HDMI adapter, would that work for my Xbox? Thanks.

Viotek hmmmm. Well, if it's not the monitor, the cable might be crappy. Anyway, so does your Viotek monitor support 120Hz at 1440p?
I don't think it the cable, because I tried like 3 other cables that I think have been used for 4k at 60 Hz, anyway idk about it specifically supporting 120hz, but that shouldn't matter because it would just be the Xbox outputting at 120 Hz and the monitor refreshing at 144hz and I could just turn on freesync.

So it looks like there could be 3 problems, 1- my monitor's HDMI 2.0 port doesn't accept 1440p at 144hz, 2- Xbox for some reason doesn't see 144hz as acceptable for 120hz (but then why does it allow 1080p at 120hz) and 3- its a software bug. :(
