Hello! So i recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor and it seems to do a weird flickering when i set it to 144hz, when it's 120hz it's fine and acts normal, anything above that it starts up.

I've changed out the DP cable with a brand new one, still does it.

Here is a video i found on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycKQ0hhJM1M

NOTE: This is not my video, it's just a video i found that seems to be doing the exact same thing mine is.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

It may still be the Displayport cable. It's a shame the monitor didn't come with one because they're often tested and certified.

I've had bad run-ins with DP cables because i wanted a longer cable then the standard 1m cable my 1440p 144hz (Acer XB270HU) monitor came with. This was before i found out about the large degree of improper made Displayport cables. I bought a 2m Displayport cable locally declaring HBR2 4k60Hz / 1440p 144Hz and i would get lots of flickering. Flickering at 120Hz wasn't as bad but was still flickering every couple of mins or so.

Ended up sticking with the original 1m cable, I made the distance work so left it as is.

For you, after finding about Vesa certified cables, Accell and Club3D are the leading brands.

Try Club3D first.

It came with one and that's what i thought it was at first, then i bought a brand new one and it's still having the same issue :/

Yeah i've tried 3 different cables so far, all have the same effect at 144hz, 120hz is fine but i'd like to use the 144hz without the flickering :/

Could only be the cable, just a run of bad luck.

If Club3D still fails, rma the monitor.

I've read the user feedback at Amazon regarding the cable i linked and all are positive.

Whats your systems specs and brands of the other two cables you tried?

2 Insignia and then 1 that came with the monitor, the weird thing is, if i full screen a game it seems to fix it, but if i'm in windowed mode it'll flicker really bad, also when i first switch it to 144hz it'll be ok for about 5 - 10 seconds then start up, it's very strange...

You're right! didn't even see reviews for this cable, thank you for that.

Quick question, is it possible for a card itself to cause this?

My PC specs are:
Viotek GN32Q 32" 1440p 144hz
I7 8700K
GTX 1080 FTW SLI (Even with 1 card disabled or removed from PC it still flickers)
16GB DDR4
EVGA 850W G3

It's possible but i highly doubt it. Since you have two 1080s, try each card separately. I'm sure if either still flickers it's not a gpu issue but the cable, but then again coincidence is a word.

Yeah i did, both of them flicker :/
