Viral data use?

When I'm using the viral app to listen to music on youtube, and I set the video of my song to play in the background, will i use less data because I'm not watching the video or will it still use the same amount because the video has already been loaded? I'm just trying to find an alternate way to stream music and an app that just loads sound off youtube videos would be ideal in terms of saving data I'm just not sure if that's what viral is doing. I'm on android btw

The same. Its still streaming. Whether its in the background or not.

You can lower your data usage by selecting lowest video quality (but it could affect also audio quality).
