Virtual Disk Manager ; Request could not be preformed because of an I/O device error FIX?

In disk management, my WD5000KK something else 500gb hard drive says not initialised, i try to initialise it by right clicking and so on... the spits out this error

Request could not be preformed because of an I/O device error

and fixes?

I hope you have recent, current, OS and Data backups; I/O error often indicates a failing HD. I'm hoping a Puppy Linux usb or dvd boot will give you the opportunity to use its file manager to copy off your data folders and files.

The hard drive works, on another computer it booted into windows 10 fine, no problem in about 50 seconds, then i formatted the drive in windows 10 installer because it wasn't detected, and now i get this error while initialising the disk for logical disk manager.

the drive is not dead because it worked a few days ago.

"...the drive is not dead because it worked a few days ago..." unfortunately, even though it worked in another computer, in this computer, somewhere between the motherboard's HD controller, the cabling, the HD -- you're getting an I/O error. Have you already tried another HD in this suspect computer?

i have tried another 2.5 inch, 320gb hard drive, and it worked fine. all my SATA ports and cables work fine.

also i went to a computer shop yesterday, and they said the hard drive was locked and needed a password, or a setting needed to be changed in the bios
