virtual memory/hard drive issues

Just recently, I had an Aurora problem on my pc and that has been
fixed. It's been 3 days since. Last night I was checking my hard
drive and HALF of my memory [hard drive?] is gone. It used to be at
72718.38MB [for instance] Now, its at 38515.59MB. How can I get my
hard drive back? I don't have anything on PC. Just photoshop, CD/DVD
burner and some accessories for photoshop. The last thing I recalled,
I was using photoshop, the actions palette, then my pc froze on me
when the action was going into play. I checked my pc and half the
drive was gone. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Your hard drive *space* is gone, not your memory. First, back up all
your data onto removable media (cd-r, usb thumb drive, external hard
drive). Do this *now*.

Then, if you are sure the computer is 100% clean, try running Chkdsk /f
to fix the file system.
