Virtualbox will not work

Every time I try to use windows xp on virtualbox it always says "FATAL: No bootable medium found! system halted." I know this means that it dosent have something to boot from but I told it where to find the iso that i downloaded from microsoft's website. I have tried tons of different tutorials and none have worked so any help appreciated.

Did you download a full Windows XP ISO (you had to do it a long time ago as it no longer is available) or the SP3 ISO found at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25129 which is not bootable?

I got the sp3 iso found at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25129 and it is not bootable.

That's the SP3 ISO that isn't bootable, not a Windows XP Home or Pro SP3 ISO. You need to get the installation CD that matches your key (probably Home or Professional).

I have a windows xp pro key but i have no clue how to get a cd.

If you know someone in IT then you could get a copy for free.
