I have a new computer with all new parts and I was wondering if I could use my old seagate barracuda. But, the hdd has tons of viruses. So I was wondering if I could unplug my new hdd and boot my old one and try to delete everything or can I plug in the old one with my new one and go into safe mode then run a scan and remove them this way. Will my new hdd get infected though?

Solution
An alternative is to buy a USB cable or dock (~$20). Boot your PC as normal, then connect the dock with the old drive.
Delete all partitions, and move on.

That dock thing is incredibly useful for connecting other/old drive to attempt some sort of fix.

I have a cable thing, and have used it with dozens of old drives.
