Virus has corrupted my HDD I think

So about an hour ago, I was looking up the new black keys album and i got a virus from a russian website. I turned my computer off but decided to hop back on it and none of my programs will start. It told me _____ program could not be started, run CHKDSK. I ran the windows CHKDSK program and entered it into the command prompt and it found nothing.
I want to reformat my pc, which has an asus motherboard, but it won't let me. On my asus laptop there was an option but not on my pc. I need the ASUS recovery CD but that thing is nowhere to be found. I still have Windows 7 on the pc (not the discs) and would like to not purchase Windows 8 if that is possible.

What should I do?

Download the correct one for the key you have.

it may have a recovery partition

turn on and press f9 or f10 or f11

depending on who makes the pc

If the PC was bought off the shelf then it usually has a recovery partition, as mcnumpty23 said. Pressing one of the function keys during POST will usually launch the recovery tool, so keep an eye out for it.

plus using the legit windows iso mentioned wont guarantee all devices will get drivers

so look for recovery partition first
