Virus infected my computer

Hi everyone. My computer somehow got infected by a virus recently. What happens is that it keeps coming up with popups and ads that are really hard to close. After that, my computer shows up with a message that my Windows 8.1 has been corrupted. Can you please help?

1. Download malwarebytes antimalware, update and scan.
2. Download adwcleaner update it and scan.
3. If you have problems installing them download Rkill, run it and keep it running then install malwarebytes, adwcleaner requires no install.
