Go to
Start > Run and enter
compmgmt.msc
into the Start-Run line and click OK

That will bring up the Computer Management console. In the console, under
Services and Applications, find Services. Selecting Services on the left
will cause the list of services to be displayed on the right.

Find Messenger in the list and double-click on it, to bring up the
properties of the Service. Stop the service and change the startup type to
disabled.

Go to Windows Update, and make sure your computer has Service Pack 2 and
subsequent updates installed.

If you think it is a virus, there are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of
discussion.

microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

However, this is NOT a virus. The BMP shows a MS Messenger / NetBIOS Pop-Up that is used as
a kind of spam.
It means a few things....

You don't have a FireWall
Your MS Networking is exposed to the Internet
You don't have WinXP SP2 installed.

If you had WinXP SP2 installed it would have disabled the NT Messenger service and you would
not get these Pop-Ups.

If you have Broadband and used a Cable.DSL Router you woould not get thse Pop-Ups.

I *strongly* suggest installing WinXP SP2.

For now, I suggest manually disabling the NT Messenger service.

Execute; %windir%\system32\services.msc

Find "Messenger" and double-click on it.
Click on "Stop"

Then go to "Startup type" and change it to "Disabled" then click on "Apply" the click on
"Ok"
