Vista and internet exployer

I use Vista and Internet Explorer,but I/E is always causing problems,I do use Firefox,but most things are on I/E,which keeps shutting down etc.
My pc guy,wants me to get a new hard drive,but I still feel the problem is with I/E,I tried to download windows 7,but it will not except it.
Is there anything else I could do,to make I/E run better ?

You dont need a new hard drive just because IE isn't working properly. Install the latest version of IE and install all updates. If you have the latest version already try reinstalling it. You should also try running IE without any add ons (tools- manage add ons).
