Running 32 bit vista pro sp2 on a gateway xp laptop, nvidia 8800, 3 gigs ram.

Had a auto update run, restart the computer to apply the 3 updates and now all I get is a blue screen.

From my reading it is a bad update, but how do I uninstall the bad update if I can't get the computer to safe mode?

Or am I not understanding and this is not a bad update and is something else???

Thank you to anyone that can help.

The screens I get and can't get past.

Tried a few times and it failed but i was able to get in safe mode.

Once in safe mode i uninstalled the video drivers and went with the generic drivers with Vista.

After that i went to the Nvidia site and through the archive of drivers trying drivers from 2008 - 2010 and all of them resulted in a blank screen for a bit and then blue screen.

The laptop is fine as long as i use drivers that dont support 3d.

Not sure what to do next, or what could be in conflict with the drivers.
