what screen are you on that just pressing TAB gets you to a drive management option?start up again press tab and says c drive is clean

Thank you very much you are spo kind sorry for the length of time had some work to do.you may need to enter the BIOS and change boot priority from the main OS drive to the DVD drive.
this Dell "re-installation" disk may just be a recovery disk, not a fresh installation package.
it will be a proprietary Dell software package anyway so you probably do not want it.
if you do not have a real MS Windows 7 or XP installation DVD then you will need to buy one.
MS does not support those OS anymore and do not offer downloadable installation packages.
