My sister's Vista laptop is currently experiencing a BOOTMGR Error. I tried to use the Recovery System on the DVD but it stated that NO OS was located.

I tried to use the boot rebuild command on the command prompt (directions here: http://cyberst0rm.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-to-fix-bootmgr-is-missing-in.html) but every option stated no OS located.

System Restore doesn't work as well since no OS can be located. Here are a few things I noticed with Questions:

1) The C: drive has less than 90MB of free space left. The hard drive is partitioned into a C: Drive with about 45GB and a D😀ata Drive with about 245GB. Is this causing an issue with BOOTMGR? How can I merge partitions with out losing data?

2) It is an MSI and they have a recovery system that allows me reset every thing (to fix errors) on C:. My question is will this affect the D:? Can I effectively move thing from C: to D: before doing the MSI Recovery?

3) Lastly that leaves the Windows Vista Reinstall. Is there a way i can do it with erasing data? Is there a guarantee it will work?

Thank you for reading my novel lol. Any advice will be appreciated.

I eventually reinstalled windows vista. Her DVD wouldnt let me so I used mine. I ended up partitioning the C Drive a 100GB of space and keep the D Drive at 180GB. Going through the pain of reinstalling the basic but fortunately there is a a website that automate the installers ( for things like winrar, firefox, gimp, adobe, flash, avast, etc)
