Hi All!
I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite A300 notebook at the moment. It won't boot past the Vista Loading screen in either normal or safe modes. I have tried a startup repair from the Vista disk but it says there is no startup problem to repair.
I took the hard drive out and attached it to my desktop (via an external casing) and ran MalwareBytes and AVG scans.
MB found:
adware.rabio
Trojan.HostsfileMod
Trojan.Agent
AVG found:
Win32/Heur
Am I correct in my understanding that none of these infections should render the pc unbootable?
I have since put the hard drive back into the notebook and still have the same problem. I have tested ram, cleaned and reseated the CPU and heatsink, and am currently running a chkdsk /r from the cmd prompt option from the Vista disk.
Any other ideas??
