Vista not booting completely

Hello,
My wifes laptop will start fine, once you have logged into Vista it loads to a certain point then it stops, the hd light blinks and won't go any further. I was able to fix this by cleaning out the hd with ccleaner, and defragging, but that no longer works. I have the hd hooked to my computer and am defragging it now after doing an error check.

Try a new hard-drive. It's safer than just trying to re-isntall Windows over a drive that can possibly be bad. Don't play around with the original drive, if there are issue with it, the more you use it the more chances you have or it totally dying, along with your data. Take it out, use it to restore your files onto the new drive.
