Here are the specs on my machine.

Case - Cooler Master RC-690
PS - Rosewill|RG530-2 530W R
MB - Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
CPU - Intel E7400 2.8Gig 775 RT
Mem - G-Skill 2Gx2|GSK F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ R
HD - 2 500G|WD WD5001AALS Sata3Gig
Vid - EVGA 512-P31150-TR GTS250 R
Optical - Samsung SH-S223Q LS
OS - Dual boot - Vista Home Premium and Windows 10

To the above system I added a new Crucial MX 100 256GB SSD as a third HD. Then I restored a backup of my main OS (Vista Home Premium) to the SSD. Typically, when I turn the machine on I get a boot menu in Vista that shows the two original OSs. I have been running the machine for a month now and the third OS does not show up in that boot menu.

Can someone give me a hint as to what I need to do to boot that new OS?

Some additional info: My BIOS only shows two hard drives but the SSD shows up in my computer drive menu screen and "Image For Windows" restored the backup copy without incident. The SSD also shows all the Vista files installed.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply i7 and apologies for not replying more promptly. Thought I had it set to email me with any replies but didn't receive any.

Regardless, I used the Image for Windows utility to make the image originally and to restore it. Have used that utility for years with good results. Thanks again for any help.

I've read through many of the articles listed below, but don't see anything that fits exactly.

EDIT: In looking again I may have found an answer below. I'll come back and post if it works.

Very nice complete question Zabier! You would be surprised how many people declare that their system "wouldn't start" and expect us to be clairvoyant. You included everything need to begin a diagnosis. Nicely done!

What did you use to create the image?

Hi Falcon! Used Image For Windows for both the clone and restore. Use it for years and it has always worked. However, never for a SSD. Ended up booting to the Windows Vista install disc and installed the drivers. Then it worked.

Got the idea from the thread below titled: "SSD unable to boot after installation" Should have thought of that on my own. Getting a little slow in my later years.

Thanks to everyone for comments and help. Cheers!
