Hello, I'm having problems with my temp folder because each time I try to install something, it gives me an error that says unable to create folder in temp, or it says Access denied, or it says cannot create temporary directory, Plz, help me, It's really frustrating

Here try this... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555644

It's actually a fairly normal issue apparently.

If at last resort it does not work you can log in as an administator account...

Click on start, run and enter: edit
Click on file, open, and enter: C:\Autoexec.bat

Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and after editing enter this following table :

SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS=TEMP

Hi Paul,

Did you manage to resolve this? I have the same problem on Windows home server 2011 which I believe is similar to Vista underneath the hood.

I didn't have an autoexec.bat file for whatever reason and so I used the environment variables setting available from the system properties dialog box to direct temp folders to c:\windows\temp but still get the error just now for the different folder.

Please help - very frustrating problem and I can't install anything!

cheers,

Brett
