Vista video problem

I installed vista on my dell dimension, and suddenly watching videos and movies is a problem, the videos are dragging as if there is a refresh rate problem, any one with a solution please help

are all your drivers and codecs up to date?

the drivers and the codecs are updated automatically, but even after an update the results are still the same, but my graphics is rated 1.0 overall by vista could this be the problem?
