Vista Won't Check for Updates

Windows Vista Business 32bit Service Pack 2
I go to Windows Updates and get the message, "Some settings are managed by your System Administrator." The Check for Updates on the left pane is greyed out.

This is a home computer, not joined to any domain. I am the sole administrator. Made suggested changes to group policy and registry (recommended by Google searches) with no success. Advice?

Try logging in as the administrator and see what you get, not someone with administrator permissions.

Could it be because Vista is no longer supported?
