VLC Media player not playing audio

VLC isn't playing audio whether I'm playing an mp3 or a movie. Windows Media Player and other stuff can. It works through my monitor speakers but not headphones.
What I have tried to fix it:
>Reinstalling my realtek driver
>Restarting
>Making sure default device is correct

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Update:
Uninstalling realtek makes audio work. Don't I need it though? Is this a permanent solution?

I would suggest to re-install the most recent Realtek drivers and try different output modules in VLC (Tools - Preferences - Sound).

That didn't fix it, but I got it working somehow... so whatev
