As the title says. I'm trying to take a snapshot in VLC and nothing happens.

It worked before.
I tried disabling hardware acceleration in VLC settings
I'm saving snapshots to a custom folder. It worked before when using this custom folder.

What a stupid problem to have.
Any ideas? Anyone have a similar problem?

Works for me.

I just designated a specific folder, on a different drive.
Snapshot works just fine.

VLC v3.0.19 Vetinari
What version are you on?

3.0.20 Vetinari

It did work before fro me too. And i made no changes i can think of. There was some taskbar transparency app i toyed with before removing it. Those can have unwanted side-effects.

It's just like VLC doesn't want to do it anymore. Very unusual...

Just updated mine to 3.0.20.

Still works.

In Tools/Preferences/Video, is your custom folder still designated?

To conclude this thread: It was user error, pure and simple. VLC snapshots work as intended.

The problem was caused by a clumsy set of steps:
- i created a folder i wanted to use for snapshots in VLC settings
- later i reorganized my folders and moved the VLC snaps folder. This broke VLC snapshots functionality
- when i discovered there's a problem, i checked the selected folder in VLC. I failed to see the path was now different! The last part of the path was what i expected, and the VLC snaps folder was roughly where i wanted it to be so i did not notice the difference. "Roughly" in the right place cuts no ice with paths.

I fixed the path, restarted VLC and now it's working as it should be.

Have you tried MPC-BE, I have tried VLC many many times and i always`s return to MPC Player, I prefer the BE version.

You can take a screenshot with ALT-I

I have used it before i found VLC. MPC + a couple of codec packs could play anything, and it looked good. But then VLC did the same out of the box so to speak. I never looked back.

The only thing VLC cannot play properly is mod files. I use XMPlay and ModPlug Tracker for that.

BE is interesting to know about. Thanks.
