VMM32.VXD Error

On boot up I'm getting an error that says

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD Missing/Unable to load
Press any key to contine

I've gone through everything I could find re: this issue, and still haven't
fixed it. It occurs about 1 out 6 times, so it's not consistant.

Do you have a Umax scanner attached?

OOps. I have an Astra scanner which is made by Umax
