Voice app for 2 gamers sitting next to each other?

So my friend and I have our computers setup in the same room in our house, and communicating while playing games is a little troublesome. When using an app like discord, the voice lags too much and we hear our IRL voices overlap the discord voice. Using no app at all makes it hard to hear over game sound.

Is there an app we could use that would carry our voices over instantly so we hear our IRL voice and microphone voice at the same time?

Any app will have some sort of delay. It has to process what you say before it sends it.
Maybe 4 tin cans and some string will work, or lowering the volume.
