A friend and I would like to use voice chat when we host a private game.
The voice works ok if we both join a public server, but if either him or I
host a game, then we can't hear each other(we are both joining/talking in
public channel).

any ideas??

I have read in other message boards, people having the same problem. Any
chance that the new patch fixes it??

Are you setting up a dedicated or a listen server? IIRC you need a
dedicated server for voicechat to work.

we were using listen, I will use dedicated next time.

I assume, I can run a dedicated server and then just run Ut and join my own
server from the same computer correct???

I've been successful in running a dedicated server, starting UT2004 again
and then joining that server, it should work, and so will voice chat =)
slows things down a bit, but if your system can handle it it should be ok.

wow, thanks for the heads up on that.
had no idea that would work....

do you think that your at a disadvantage on a lan all other things
being equal with that amount of overhead; server and client on one
machine?

I can see over the net that equal footing is more likely.
seems the botleneck for most people: as a server online is ul/dl
speeds.
