It runs 500/380 (DDR760) if I keep it cool...

ATI just released an AIW 9600 XT with clock speed of 525/325 (DDR650). I'd like to load that new BIOS, but I think I'm going to need a bit more voltage for the VPU. It never gets hot, it simply crashes above 500 without getting hot.

Are you sure it works?
I means, a 9600xt vid card bios in a 9600pro vid card, are you sure you're not looking for trouble?
Anyway please post your result.

I think the only difference is the clock speed.

You seem so anxious! Do you have information on the voltage mod?

Yeah...I saw some info on that AIW 9600XT--looks sweet. I've been looking in tandem with more info for my 4400...no info so far on the AIW. I'll let you know if I see anything.

I'm looking for information about 9600xt voltage mod.
9600pro voltage mod can be found by google search easily.
If you just wanna change your 9600pro clock speed from bios, why not try BiosEdit .

Here the information I found for 9600pro voltage mod, not very detail but good enough.

Does this mod works on my 9600xt too?

There's nothing on the AIW from the guys at Rage3D. There's been alot of R9600PRO moding going on, but nothing sofar about the AIW R9600Pro.

If you are going to flash the BIOS, I would suggest getting one for a card you know is an 'XT' using a PRO VPU (overclocked). I'm not sure if it would be a problem but I wonder if the on die thermal diode or some other small diff. wouldn't cause a problem.

Be sure you remember to prepare to flash back before doing this. Most people I've seen have a PCI card ready so they can boot with it while they perform the task.

Just the view from here.

Good Luck!

BTW, check the front page of that site, and you find the following conclusion about the R9600PRO vs XT;

After some time I've concluded that Bios files are worthless. They do not change voltages nor anything else that is helpful.

Also: 9600xt voltages are roughly the same as 9600pros.

varying on brand gpu is 1.20V to 1.30V.
One thing thats is a little difference is that memory on samsung 2.8ns seems to be higher on stock 9600pro's (2.75V stock usually) compared to 9600xt's who are generally 2.5V

Ideal voltage if you wish to mod both of these cards is 1.35-1.4V gpu, and 2.85-2.90V mem.
