Hey All,
I'm a first time builder and i'm pretty confused on what is ok in terms of Ram OC as well as what is compatible with my hardware.
My system is:
CPU: Intel i7 4930K 3.4GHz LGA2011 130W
Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
RAM: 2x4 Corsair Vengeance Pro (32Gb total - 4 sticks)
Video: GigaByte 780 ti GHz edition
PSU: V850 Gold modular Cooler master
Since I'm just learning this stuff I'm curious to whats acceptable with what RAM and how much of it I can use. The mobo has a 64Gb limit on max ram but when I put everything together it under clocked my ram to a lower freq, and voltage. So I changed the Latency, Freq, and voltage to what is advertised on the RAM within my BIOS. I've had no problems and everything has been running fine but I just want to be sure I'm not doing anything wrong or something I should be doing.
Within my BIOS I changed it to:
LAT: 11, 13, 13, 31
Freq: 2400
Volt: 1.650V
When I was on ASUS's website looking for a chipset driver "because Win 8.1 keeps telling me I dont have one..." I came across the DDR3 2400 Qualified Vendors List (QVL) and I didnt see anywhere on that list that gives the ok to use 32Gb of Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8 (4 sticks) in my system.
http://
I guess my question is...Am I doing everything right in terms of setting my ram to what was advertised? Is there something I should be aware of? Should I downgrade?? Ugh.. sorry for all the newbie questions
