Voltage vs Latency

i know latency is important and looking at this set.

The reviews say that it's actually 1.9 V.

IDK why people up their voltage and latency.


p.s. if i OC my FSB, do I have to put my ratio to 1:1 on ram and/or OC my ram too?

I'd rather just up the fsb.

They up the voltage for better stability and the latency so that they can reach higher clock speeds.

Depends on your mobo, I'd say you will most likely be able to keep your RAM at a set speed if you want to.

They increase their voltage and relax their latency to reach higher clock speeds.

Most memory controllers determine the RAM speed as a ratio of the FSB speed. You will most likely have to increase the memory frequency, memory voltage, and relax the memory timings as you OC. But that's ok, it'll be faster. Also keep in mind that a latency of 6 clock cycles at DDR2-800 is roughly the same speed as a latency of 4 at DDR2-533.

You can't deal with one part of the system separately -- you need to consider the CPU first, then set your memory to work best with the CPU overclock.
