go to the manufacturer's site, whoever it is. they will have a utility that will wipe the drive clean, like it came from the factory. if it's ibm look for a file called DFT(drive fitness test), if it's maxtor look for a file called maxdiag or powermax (not sure what they are naming it nowadays, it used to be maxdiag). seagate or WD i have no clue what their utility names are. gluck
