Welcome to the Summer 2019 Best PC Builds Competition! For more than two decades Tom's Hardware has brought you news and reviews of the latest and greatest in hardware, growing to over 2 million users in the process! With constantly evolving technology, our members have developed an unmatched talent for finding the best prices and putting together the best system builds anywhere.

We've gone ahead and changed the rules a bit, so please make sure to read the list of ground rules below.

Be warned:
  • We no longer accept Newegg as a source of parts.
  • Build lists must link directly to the Amazon product page.
So why the change? Well, in the past few competitions we've noticed that prices using the PCPartPicker builder don't necessarily reflect actual availability. Given that and the confusion in regards to the list of available vendors, we wanted to simplify the process to encourage more participation.

When exporting your build lists from PCPartPicker, please make sure to edit the links so they point directly to the Amazon product page (please see the BBcode in my example build below for further clarification).

This thread is for the $1,000 Mainstream Gaming Build budget category. We are looking for the best performing gaming build under $1,000. Please only submit builds within the $1,000 budget category to this thread. All other builds will be disqualified.

We will accept submissions over the next 2 weeks.

Please make sure to follow the ground rules below. Any builds over budget will be disqualified.

Here are the ground rules:
  • Only one build per budget category, per user. Multiple builds from a single user or duplicate accounts will be disqualified.
  • Do not go over budget.
  • Use only Amazon to source parts.
  • DO NOT USE Amazon 3rd Party Sellers to source parts.
  • Use list prices only: coupons, rebates, bundles or any other limited-time offers will not be accepted.
  • Do not include shipping or tax in your final budget.
  • Do not include the Operating System, Monitor or VR Headset, Keyboard, Mouse or Gamepad.
  • All builds must have a name.
  • Do not put your forum handle in the name of your build, and avoid odd capitalization & symbols.
  • Provide direct links to the Amazon product pages of each component — we encourage users to use PCPartPicker's System Build for speedy construction. Do not post a link to your build, but rather please be sure to export as BBCode and then edit with the product page links for a quick copy/paste to the forums.

And why not Newegg? If you go to a component page on PC Part Picker and select the Merchant, it limits your selections to that merchant.

The RX 5700XT is unavailable on amazon right now, but it is available on all other merchants for 400$, so I have manually given its price there.

Edit:
The 5700xt is back in stock so I have updated it .

I built this system primarily for gaming, but I have put a good amount of money towards fast nvme storage and a good case and power supply for future upgradability.

The Very high speed memory (DDR4-3866 cas 18 should downclock to the ideal 3733 CAS 17 for the best memory results, and was cheaper than the other ideals of CAS 3200 cas 14 and 3600 CAS 16. The 3600 should overclock to match the 3600X on the base cooler without breaking a sweat. The older Glacier GPU isn't top-deck, but is adequate to the job and modular. A review shows excellent performance (including pulling 900W before failing safely)

This is ready to handle 1080p gaming with no problems, and 1440p at high, but not ultra, settings

No compromises 1000$ build, cool, silent, you could go lower on a lot of parts, ditch aftermarket cooler etc. and get better graphics card, but those are top notch components which will serve you for years, and you can easily upgrade it later with no issue. RTX 2060 instead of rx 5700 because it has better cooling solution, otherwise 5700 is better.

It's more like a build guide for anyone wanting to build a great PC right now, use it, if you dont have a $1000 constraint you can add up to rtx 2080 super to this build and it will run perfectly, CPU and PSU are more than capable.

Cheers.

Motherboard requires flashback, with the spare budget you can upgrade any part. Very close performance to any other build in this range. Best price to performance ratio.
