Hi all, I just had a quick question in regards to VPN.
I've currently signed up with a VPN service that I am now using and am connected to. However, due to the fact that I am on a school network, I was wondering when the data that I send is actually encrypted. For example, when I am connected to my VPN, can the school still see the information that I am sending/receiving since it has to go through their router, or is it now encrypted?

Thanks!

Depends how the vpn is built. If it runs over SSL or even SSH it is encrypted by your machine. It is also encrypted by IPSEC vpn but those generally are difficult to get though a firewall you do not control.

If it is running as a proxy type of vpn over port 80 then likely it is not encrypted.
