I like using portforwarding for my games. I'd like to create a static IP address for my VPN. I am new to VPN is there anything I should know before creating a static IP address on my VPN? My VPN has many profiles, private, streaming, file sharing and so forth. Does this mean I'd need to create a few static IPs?

That is far more than I can type....

And much more information is needed with respect to your computer and networking environment.

Does your router support VPN? I would expect so based on your post per se. However, there is no harm in verifying that the router does indeed support VPN.

Start with the following reference link:

https://nordvpn.com/blog/types-of-ip-addresses/

Then move on to setting up your VPN - more guidance:

Read as necessary, plan out what you know or believe needs to be done and how to go about doing it.

Post your plan and request comments.

Most VPNs I've tested seem to cut bandwidth quite a bit (90% reduction), and, increased ping from 30 ms to 200 ms in the ones I've tested...

I'd be trial-using at least a few to see if any will meet your needs at all, frankly. (Ping matters to most games, and 200 ms might have cut it in 1993, but,....... it sure sucks now)

There is a lot of good info there. My plan is to use VPN all the time to keep data secure. I mainly want to create a static IP so that I will get open NAT types for all my games when playing online while staying private at the same time. As mdd1963 said. I understand I may take a hit in terms of ms response times but its something I am willing to test.

The IP address of your VPN will always be the IP of the network the server you are using is on. So for instance if you are logged into a UK server, your IP will be a UK IP address. There is no way for you to change the IP of your VPN's servers.
