I've been trying to use PS4 Remote Play to connect to a console which is not in my house. I've done this last year without any problem but PS4 support says it isn't possible. Thing is, came up with something but don't really know how to do it. Is there any way to connect to somoeone else's internet so it looks like I'm connected to the same network as the PS4? (tech support says I have to be on the same network) I imagine it could be done through Hamachi or something like that.

Solution
I know nothing about vpn and consoles. You can't run a vpn client like openvpn on the ps4 itself ?

You could use a pc to run the vpn but in general it is simpler to use routers. Your router would have to have the vpn client feature and the remote router would need to have vpn server.

This is as close as you are going to get as being on the same network.

No matter how you do the vpn you need to be careful that the ip subnet used in your network is different than the subnet in the remote network.

So the first question is--how did you do it before? And why can't you just do it again like that?

So there are ways to join networks over the Internet--it's called a WAN (wide area network). You'll need vpn routers on both ends that can create ipsec vpn tunnels, and then you can configure the networks so they can be basically on the same IP subnet and the ps4 will think it is on the same network. If it can be on a different subnet as long as it can hit another ps4 on the network, then you don't even have to do any tricks to join both network subnets.

But this setup is not for the faint of heart network administrator so that's why I'm asking what you did before.
