Very close to purchasing a VPN (will today during my lunch break, potentially PIA/Express/IPVanish)

I'm currently using my Shield to simply stream media (via apps like Kodi/Terrarium TV etc) over my WiFi. I never load media manually onto the Shield.

I've realized now that I really need a VPN. What exactly do I need to do to verify that my Shield utilizes my PIA VPN over the Wifi?

Solution
if you use ipvanish, then you need to 'launch the app' and it will appear in the top bar like bluetooth / wifi / etc. this shows you are connected.

you would need to reconnect to vpn on every restart, or when you can see it auto disconnect you for inactivity.

you can try some free vpns first to get acustomed to the process of starting up the vpn app before surfing.
