Hey all,

I will soon be moving over to South Korea for a year or so. I know how VPN's work in general while using them abroad to watch tv from back home in the U.K. I guess this question is more about how to use it with a Sim Card.

I have a rolling monthly 'pay as you go' sim card with free texts from the U.K and a tablet running windows 10 (that has a sim card slot)

If I was to use a VPN on my tablet and tell it to set me up to be in the U.K and keep my sim card in the tablet (obviously) would I be able to send and recieve sms using my free u.k text limit as if I was in the U.K (but sat in South Korea)? This way I can still text friends without having to pay expensive overseas rates.

Thank you in advance, and hope the question is understandable!

Solution
Better off using email to text or something. Text message in most cases are going over the voice part of the phone. They are put into the unused part of the messages that are sent back and forth between the tower and device constantly. These are how it know to switch towers or how to know where to route a phone call to you.

The text service is not possible to run though the vpn because it does not use the data part of the service.

I thougt something like this would be the case due to the way they transmitted over here in the u.k. Just wondered if could fool it to think the sms originated in the u.k.

Thank you good sir, you help has been valuable and on point!
