with the dx12 launched, cpu and gpu consumption has been raised and will go even higher in next 6-7 yrs.....i sincerely want to use this pc for atleast 10-12 yrs....but is this setup future proofed? can it survive(considering im cleaning it once a weak) with little bit overclocking also :) :)

pls sort out...:)

Solution
well the CPU might make 6 years, perhaps more, but that GPU will never make 12 years. go look at a 12 year old GPU, would you game on it? CPUs are slowing down in terms of progress at least for now, but, GPUs are still advancing, and that GPU will simply be too weak 12 years from now even if it had 100GB of VRAM. if you get 6 years you will have done very well, 12 is unobtainable.

12Yrs? Not gonna happen on a performance standpoint. Hardware wise you'd be lucky if that low quality PSU made it 12 months.

"how much vram does gtx 1060 6gb has...!!" Well, it has 6Gb of vram you kinda answered your own question there.

If you get a high quality PSU the hardware might last 10-12 years.

well I missed the PSU, very valid point there.

6 years is better than most people, and you could always get more, but you should not count on it. my main system has a CPU from 2008, and it is still doing very well, but it is heavily overclocked, and I fear it is going to be unstable at any speed due to erosion.

Now in that time anything could have failed, and frankly I would have been okay with that. If it does not boot tomorrow, I still got my worth out of it. a good PSU can have a 10 year warranty, so that could always be carried over.

idk how true it is..but i think gpu and cpu company kinda play tricks with people by making a gpu programmed that it cannot last longer...coz if it last longer..how their business gonna grow...😛

well, the real reason they fall behind is either lack of driver support, or the card simply lacks the ability to support the latest game engines like DX12. I mean nothing stays high end for 12 years, but that is because the new stuff is noticeably better.

there could be some planned obsolescence but even then what? boycott nivida and AMD?
