I want to use the vs450w corsair PSU with an Rx 580 and an i5 4460. Is this possible and what are the dangers?

Is that the only PSU you have access to? I'd ask you to look at a Seasonic S12II 620W unit at the very least for that system.

That is an under-powered PSU for the GPU you intend to use. You really want to have a least a 500w PSU of better quality than the model you currently have.

The only thing I didn't buy yet is the GPU so that's why i am asking.

Corsair VS is not the best quality.
The danger is that if a psu fails under load, it can damage anything it is connected to.
RX580 is cheap but power hungry.
I suggest you look at other gpu options.

I might suggest a GTX1660 or GTX1660ti
