Hi, I’m not too knowledgable with pc’s and I was just researching some of the parts and I noticed that my current PSU (the VS650) is quite poor and I have a spare PSU (the CX650M) which is apparently also quite poor but it’s all I have access to at the moment and I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to swap them?

Which VS do you have? The old on that runs on 230V only (has color in side label) or the new one (gas just gray graphics on the side label).

The gray side label VS is significantly better than the old one.

What is it powering?

I believe you are thinking of the green labeled CX units being poor quality. The newer gray labeled CX units are much higher quality than the green ones.

Unless your computer...

Unless your computer is really low end such as an office PC or an inexpensive APU build, say away from the VS series and go to the CX units. Plus the CX units offer a 5 year warranty, over the VS 3 year warranty.

Since he has a "CX650M" and not a "CX600M", it's pretty safe to say he has the newer model, regardless of side label color.

Since he has a "CX650M" and not a "CX600M", it's pretty safe to say he has the newer model, regardless of side label color.

Thanks for that list. Don't know why Corsair makes the names so confusing from previous and current gen PSU's.

What? By reusing the same name over and over? I think that's less confusing the creating a whole new series name and having to reeducate everyone how it's different from their other series.

Models within the series are discontinued and replaced with similar, but better, products with the same prefix. I don't think it's complicated.
