Hello All,
Thanks in advance for any advice! I've read through numerous threads on this forum (and others) to fix my problem, with no luck.
My Computer Setup:
Laptop: ASUS UL30Vt-A1
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 1.3GHz
GPU: NVidia G210M 512mb
My TV Setup:
Samsung UN65J6300
Refresh: 120hz (as tested by rtings)
I have my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI, and I don't have a "clone" setup - my only display is the Samsung TV as set in the NVidia control panel. I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse from the couch. I have all the most up-to-date drivers but due to my setup, Nvidia requires that the drivers for my GPU are updated via the ASUS website. The GPU drivers on the ASUS website are 5-6 years old.
When I watch movie files (avi and others) and Netflix on my laptop screen, I don't have any issues. When I use the Samsung as my primary monitor, I get screen tearing near the top of the screen (probably 20% of the way down the screen). It's worse when there's panning or lateral movement on the screen, and it affects both full screen and windowed programs. I see it in the browser, in Windows Media Player, and VRC.
I tried forcing v-sync with triple buffering on my card. I've dropped my refresh rate on the card down to 59, 50, and 30 hz. I've even tried dropping the output resolution to 720p. None of this works, and I still see tearing.
A little surprised because if I stream these files to another device, like a WDTV Live Media Player, there's no tearing or issues of any kind (but performance on that device is not great).
Any ideas? I've messed around with a lot of the 3D settings within the Nvidia control panel to no avail. I think my system has plenty of power to correctly play these types of files (since there's overall more power than in something like the WDTV Live player, but I could be wrong.) Is it a driver issue, and should I try to force a driver update outside of the ASUS website?
Thanks in advance!
