Was playing Assassins Creed:Blackflag, gameplay wasn't smooth, checked FPS with Afterburner, getting only 29.9 FPS on a 60Hz monitor with Vsync on

Everthing is maxed out except AA-TXAA 2x and Ambient Occlusion-HBAO low
Disabled Vsync, getting >60 FPS with occassional tearing.(2-3 times in 5minutes)

Why Vsync has capped FPS to 30 on a 60Hz monitor

Need help

Please don't bump; it's against the rules. Especially withing an hour of posting. Instead, try making the title more descriptive and adding extra info - SS

Solution
With vsync, if your fps drops below 60, it will bump you down to 30fps. That's just the way it works. So if you were repeatedly dipping down to say 55fps, it would have bumped you down to the 30fps you were getting. If you have an nvidia GPU, try using adaptive vsync. It will do the job of vsync at +60fps but will turn itself off if you dip below 60fps.

With that said, if you are getting screen tearing from running the game over 60fps, turn the HBAO to high and that should bring you down a good 10fps or so.

Try these as far as I know :

1. Turn Vsync off for smooth gameplay. If doesn't work, try 2.
2. Try reinstalling Assassins Creed. If doesn't work, try 3.
3. Try reinstalling DirectX and updating your graphic drivers.
4. You may also reinstall your graphic drivers. Atleast run a update check.

Sorry SS, newbie here, didn't know and won't happen again.

I was getting same issue in all other games, so problem wasn't in Blackflag.

Finally after uninstalling & reinstalling nvidia drivers for about 4-5 times, the problem has solved
