Vulkan is the re-implementation of Mantle. Vulkan works on AMD, Nvidia, and Intel. AMD however does seem to benefit more on this API than Nvidia compared to something else like DX11. This is mainly due to AMD's asynchronous computer support is better within the hardware, especially with Polaris and future platforms. I wouldnt really chose a AMD over nvidia because of this small benefit, because it is only supported in like 3 games, and will take a bit to adapt, and by then Nvidia may be caught up with AMD on vulkan performance.
