I've been trying to find open ports to use to download live concerts that I've downloaded for Vuze. No matter what port number I type in it tells me error. I've made changes in my internet provider router and firewall. I've ran netstat and I've ran telnet and still can't figure it out. I'm trying to open connections to be able to successfully download.

Solution
The issue might be stemming from McAfee. While I usually don't recommend it, you could try disabling your computer security (McAfee) just to see if you can connect. If it does connect (you get past your error messages), then turn McAfee back on and look to find a way to white list the site.

Vuze is telling the error. Public IP is coming to my router and I get it from running ipconfig in the command prompt. This is a website that has been around for a very long time that allows fans to upload concerts that they've legally recorded. What am I doing that's borderline illegal?

It all depends on the content that is being shared. If it's protected by copyrights, then sharing it is illegal. Tom's Hardware views torrents and their usage as legal, therefore discussion of such is allowed in these forums; provided the discussion does not contain sharing of copyright protected content.

These downloads are not protected by any copyrights. Just bootleg concerts that the artist allowed to be recorded. I'm just trying to figure out how to open ports for Vuze so I can connect to more peers and the download speeds up.

Of course, the term "bootleg", by definition, makes it 100% illegal. If the artist allows a concert to be recorded and shared, then it's not a bootleg. Might want to use a different term.

Did you make sure Vuze has rights for incoming as well as outgoing data?

The word bootleg should not be used, just old terminology. Vuze does have rights for incoming as well as outgoing data. I keep getting NAT errors on Vuze when trying to use a specific port.

Updated previous post with link to Vuze Wiki. Did you test the NAT/firewall? If so what was the response?

I've been struggling to use that Wiki. I tried using ports they said to use in it and got nothing. Every time I test the NAT/Firewall with a port I find that is listening it still gives the error.

Are you running any Port Forwarding protocols or any kind of VPN software?
What about anti-virus software. What do you have running on your system?

I'm not running any port forwarding protocols other than trying to forward through my router and firewall. I have McAfee anti virus running and I do have VPN on but turn it off when trying to download these concerts.
