Wasn't sure where this thread would be suitable so I'm putting it here.

Since an update about two days ago titled in my update history "Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)", Windows Driver Foundation or wdf.exe has been taking up about 50% of my cpu capacity (intel i7-2600). I've been able to keep it from using too much of my cpus capacity by setting the affinity in my task manager to use only CPU 7, but I can't get it to stop being there. The only way I can get it to go away is by deleting or disabling my network driver. Windows won't use any other driver than the one it automatically installs for this. The network adapter is titled "Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet".

If anyone can provide some useful feedback or tips to resolve this it'd be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Please take a look at this solved thread:

According to this thread, wdf.exe is a malware and is used by bitcoin miners to use your PC for mining. Please see the marked solution in this thread and implement it. You would get more insight if you open your task manager, right click on wdf.exe and click on "open file location".

If the above doesnt work for you, try the following:
1) Go to settings (click windows click settings). Search for 'driver'. Click on change device installation settings in the search suggestions. Click no and save changes.
2) Download the LAN drivers from Dell but dont install them yet
3) Uninstall the current drivers
4) reboot your PC
5) See if...
Your issue may go away if you install the drivers from your NIC manufacturer's site or your motherboard site. Can you please post your complete system specs here so we may help you further.
CPU, Motherboard, PSU, RAM, case, graphics card, storage.

Specs are as follows:
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080
CPU: Intel i7-2600
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400
Mobo: Dell 0y2mrg (stock with Dell XPS 8300)
SSD: 111GB KINGSTON SH103S3120G
HDD: 9314GB Seagate ST10000VN0004-1ZD101 (SATA)
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3
Case: Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition

I have almost all new parts from when this computer was given to me except for the Processor and Mobo.

6) If no, install the drivers downloaded from Dell
7) Check if the issues are resolved
Now, install all updates for your windows 10. All this should update your PC (if its not on latest updates) and at the same time wont install any new drivers for you.

Solution

On Windows 7 I had almost the same issue. I checked in Task Manager that W.D.F.exe used like 25 % of my cpu. I then found out that it was CPU miner trojan setup on my PC somehow. I first tried to reset the PC which didn't work. Tried to shut it down but wasn't able to. Soon I went through registry editor and found that it was set up not to shutdown and run. I deleted the registry, found the location of WDF and deleted it.
