I am replacing the hd in my new to me thinkpad 440s to a SSD. The only w10 product key i have is the one for the 440s. Can I just get the key from the registry and clean install w10? Or, do I need to clone the hd to the ssd? This is my 1st time doing so.
TIA

If windows is relatively new or you think it is quick and responsive, you can clone it. But I would take the chance of the replacement to fresh install it nontheless.

Do you have a Microsoft account? This account can be important to reactivate your windows after reinstallation. It will provide you a digital key while logging in after the fresh install and activate your windows. Be sure your current windows installation is activated and linked in your account.
