If your hardware came with an OS or you ordered it with an OS, then there has never been a valid reason to install something newer. There have been a lot of problems with Win10 on both old and new hardware....then again the same was true when Win 8.1 came out. But the biggest beef with Win10 has been the force feeding of updates and drivers. When it goes bad, reinstalling the drive from the manufacturer's web site works .... until WU sees that it's not the MS version and replaces it with the defective one again.
The phenomenon is such that Forbes has been tracking the issues as much as the techie mags....
I'd wait until it matures some more, no harm with that route ... you have until end of July to get your free upgrade. be careful tho, MS apparently unsatisfied with the uptake rate has changed the upgrade from a "optional" item in WU to a "recommended" one. What that means is if you have WU set to install "recommended" updates, you will be upgraded whether you wanted to or not.
