W2k Cd-rom prob

Just upgraded from win98se to win2k pro, bios recognizes my cd-rom, and under add/remove hardware with hidden hardware shown win2k also recognizes the device. I've physically removed the device and then reinstalled and win2k finds the device and installs but still doesn't allow me to use it or something.

Delete it out and restart the system, see if that corrects the problem. may be installing the wrong driver for it.

Who makes the drive?
