I did a fresh install on a laptop of w2k pro and I'm able
to connect fine to my home workgroup and see/share the
various computers I have. Using the same Laptop I'm
unable to add the laptop to a Nt4 domain at another
location. I have upgraded several workstations to w2k
from NT4 and the function fine on the NT4 domain. The
laptop is unable to be pinged from the network or ping to
the network. There is network light activity on the
network card in the laptop. I'm assuming something has
not been installed through the w2k fresh install that was
installed in the upgrade. Using WINS on the domain TCP/IP
active, tried using netbeui, tried enabling Netios over
TCP/IP... Any Ideas?

>When I was unable to join the NT domain, I manually
assigned an unused network ip address to the laptop I'm
unable to ping successfully by name or ip. I've attempted
to ping from both the laptop as well as from the network.

BTW, I checked with ipconfig to ensure the laptop has the
ip address assigned.

Yes the server sees the XP client and the Client sees the
server. They both see each other in Network connections
also.
