Question Wait or buy it right now?

Okay like I asked a ton of times if I should upgrade from the 1060 to the 2060, should I buy it right NOW, or wait until October in case something else comes out?
CPU: i5 8400
Monitor: 1080p60

I would wait at least until AMD announces their NAVI GPUs. They are promising a lot and if they can deliver it should shatter Nvidia overpricing scheme and force some competition.

Your Intel CPU doesn't care one way or another. What will care is your wallet if AMD can deliver on the price to performance they have promised and has been leaked online.

Honestly I think it would be overkill for 60FPS 1080P.

You could get a 1660ti or 1660 and easily hit 60FPS at 1080P.

i think 1660 from 1060 is a bad upgrade imo. But if you think about it in this way, 1060 to 2060 will be more future-proof. Also doesn't the 1660 Ti perform the same with 2060?

Oh sorry I meant 1660ti or used 1070 . Its late. The 2060 pulls ahead around 10 to 20% in various games. If you do go ahead and buy the 2060 I would strongly recommend upgrading to a 1440P monitor, trust me the difference is huge over 1080P but otherwise I woudl save your money and get the 1660ti.

The issue with future proofing is that technology is unpredictable, I bought a 7700K CPU then AMD announced Ryzen and suddenly Intel chips got more cores for lower costs.

My new core belief on building computers is price to performance for at least 2 or 3 years, beyond that its insane to try and gamble. I would wait for AMDs NAVI announcement which I believe will be Monday.

That's a good advice, but I think I'll just stick with my 1060, for now at least. I don't really wanna take any risks. Yes 1440p monitors I have heard are amazing. But If I just keep the 1060, is it going to be enough for newer games with the i5 8400?

1060 Might struggle a bit with things on Ultra or even high for something likes shadows and AA. Like I said just wait for a week and see what is announced and if suddenly Nvidia cards go on sale.
